A section repaired beats a room replaced
If you have leftover material — or the product is still made — swapping the damaged planks costs a fraction of a re-floor. Most people are never told that option exists because it is the small job.
Squeaks have a cause and a fix
A squeak is movement between subfloor and joist, or between two boards. From above it is usually screws in the right place; from below, where there is a crawlspace, it is shims and blocking. Either way it is a repair, not something you live with.
Transitions stop being trip hazards
Thresholds and transition strips take abuse and are almost always the first thing to fail. They are cheap, fast, and they are the difference between a floor that feels finished and one that catches a toe.

Most people have never watched this kind of work happen. Here's the whole sequence so nothing about the visit is a surprise.
Find out what the floor is, and what is under it
LVP, laminate, engineered, solid hardwood and tile all fail differently and repair differently. A photo plus a look at an edge or a vent cut usually tells us both.
Check for a wet cause before touching the floor
Lifted seams and cupped boards are usually a water story. If something is still leaking, the honest sequence is find the source first — otherwise the repair fails and you paid twice.
Lift, replace, re-lock
Click-lock planks come up and go back in from the nearest edge, or get cut in with a plunge cut where that is not practical. Nailed hardwood boards get cut out and replaced board by board.
Transitions, shoe mould and the walk-through
Thresholds set, shoe mould back down, and the repair walked with you in the light it will actually live in.

Matching is the hard part, not the labor
Flooring products get discontinued fast. If you have leftover boxes in the garage, this is an easy job. If you do not, a repair may be visible no matter how well it is done — and you should hear that before I start, not after.
Where the repair stops and a re-floor starts
Past roughly a quarter of a room, or once the subfloor is soft, patching stops making sense. At that point a flooring contractor doing the whole room is the cheaper honest answer and I will tell you so.
Subfloor damage changes the job
Water that reached the subfloor means the sheet material may need cutting out and replacing before anything goes back down. That is a real possibility on any water-related floor job and it gets named as an unknown in the estimate rather than hidden in the number.
What I do not do
Whole-house installs, sanding and refinishing hardwood, self-levelling pours, and large-format tile setting are specialist work with specialist tools. Small tile repairs and grout are fine; a new tile floor is not mine.

This is a triage service more than an installation service. The most valuable thing I do on a flooring call is tell you honestly whether you are looking at a two-hour repair or a room that needs replacing — and I have no incentive to talk you into the big version, because the big version is not my job anyway.
