Gutter Cleanup & Downspout Clearing

A blocked gutter does not announce itself until a storm, and then it announces itself as water coming over the front edge, down the fascia, and into the one place you did not want it. On the Gulf Coast that is twice a year, every year.

01 / Why it's worth doing right

Water lands where it was supposed to

The entire point of a gutter is to move roof water away from the wall and the foundation. Full of pine needles and shingle grit, it does the opposite — it holds water against the fascia board and dumps the overflow at the base of the wall.

You find the small problems before the storm does

Half of what this job is worth is the look: a hanger that has pulled loose, a seam starting to weep, a section with standing water because the slope has dropped. All cheap now, all expensive after a named storm.

Fascia and soffit stay dry

Rotten fascia is one of the most common repairs on Pensacola houses, and overflowing gutters are the usual cause. Clearing them twice a year is the cheapest preventive maintenance on the house.

02 / How the job actually goes

Start to finish, no mystery.

Most people have never watched this kind of work happen. Here's the whole sequence so nothing about the visit is a surprise.

Confirm the house is in scope

Single-storey, safely reachable from a ladder on stable ground. If it is a two-storey, a steep pitch, or anything that wants roof access or fall protection, that is a gutter or roofing contractor's job and I will say so when you call.

Clear by hand, bag it, take it

Debris out by hand rather than blown across the yard and your neighbour's, bagged and hauled away — you should not be left with six piles of wet pine straw on the drive.

Flush every downspout

Water down each run to confirm it actually clears. A gutter cleaned but a downspout still packed at the elbow is a job that looks done and is not.

Re-secure and report

Loose hangers refastened, obvious seam issues noted, and a straight list of anything I saw that needs a real repair — with an honest note on whether it is mine or somebody else's.

You’ll get a text when I’m on my way. No four-hour window, no wondering whether today is the day — and it’s me sending it, not a dispatcher.

03 / Worth knowing before you call

Twice a year here, not once

Pine, live oak and the Gulf Coast storm season mean most Pensacola houses need this before hurricane season and again after leaf drop. Anyone telling you annually has not cleaned gutters here.

Guards help, they do not end the job

Gutter guards cut the volume of debris substantially and still need periodic checking — fine grit and pine needles get through most of them. They are a good buy; they are not a reason to never look again.

Height is my honest limit

This service is single-storey only. That is not modesty, it is a safe-work line: two-storey gutter work wants proper fall protection and a company set up for it.

Repairs beyond cleaning

Re-sloping a run, replacing a section, or full gutter replacement is a gutter contractor's work. I will clear, re-secure and tell you exactly what is failing — and hand you the honest referral rather than bodging it.

04 / Why call me for this

Straight version.

This one is on the list because it is a genuine seasonal need here, it pairs naturally with the rest of an exterior punch list, and it is the sort of small recurring job that a big contractor will not drive out for. It is also the service where saying no is most of the value — I will tell you plainly when your house is taller than my scope.
